what is catford Pride

Catford Pride is a vibrant and inclusive LGBTQ+ community pride festival that takes place annually in Catford, led by passionate black and people of colour (POC) community members. This self-funded event aims to celebrate diversity and empower the disadvantaged LGBTQ+ communities in Catford and its surrounding areas.

The festival offers a unique platform for LGBTQ+ individuals, allies, and organisations to come together and honour the rich tapestry of identities within the community. Catford Pride takes great pride in fostering an environment where everyone feels welcome, regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, or cultural background.

With a strong focus on inclusivity, Catford Pride ensures that all voices are heard and represented. The festival's organisers actively collaborate with local community groups, LGBTQ+ organisations, and individuals from diverse backgrounds to create a programme that reflects the community's needs and aspirations.

why?

Catford Pride places a strong emphasis on addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ individuals within disadvantaged communities. The festival actively promotes access to healthcare resources, mental health support, legal advice, and other vital services through partnerships with local organisations and service providers.

By fostering an inclusive and empowering environment, Catford Pride aims to not only create a memorable and joyful celebration but also to inspire and empower the LGBTQ+ community in Catford and beyond. Through the collective efforts of the dedicated organisers and the support of the wider community, Catford Pride continues to create positive change, break down barriers, and build a more inclusive society for all.
